About the Artist:

Diane Una Dove is a contemporary visual artist based in Oakland California. While her work spans a variety of mediums she works primarily in figurative and landscape painting. In her figurative work she addresses the complex relationships of women and trauma as they navigate both natural and foreign thresholds. She aims to provoke a hint of fetich, folly, and emotional turmoil in her work. She says she experiences a release of anxiety, like solving a puzzle, when she is immersed in the creative process.

Earning a BFA at San Francisco State University and a Masters in Education from Framingham University, she has been an advocate of art education, working with ETS on the first National Board Certification in Art Education. She was a recipient of the Teacher Institute for Creative Arts (TICA) at the Chicago Art Institute twice and studied curriculum development at the Savannah College of Art and Design as well as studying abroad at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. unadove@gmail.com
